Project Overview
Motionpoems is a non-profit organization that pairs filmmakers with poets from around the world. Each year, Motionpoems releases a series of short films — all set to a piece of poetry and centered around that season’s theme.

I participated in Season 8 of Motionpoems with this film, War Poem. Based on a poem of the same name by Nomi Stone, the story follows a brother and his wounded sister as they escape their city of ruin, in search of a place of peace.

Featuring an original score by James Newberry — and wonderful performances by James Jelkin and Alexandra Chelaru — War Poem is one of my most evocative and personal projects to date.
